The first thing to do is work from your calendar, not a to-do list. The to-do list at the end of the day is not working unless you scheduled them into a calendar.
Cal Newport, author of Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World, is a big proponent of time blocking. Time blocking is a time management method that asks you to divide your day into blocks of time. Each block is dedicated to accomplishing a specific task, or group of tasks, and only those specific tasks.
For me, I found day theming more helpful as I want to dedicate time to many things I am passionate about.
Day theming is a version of time blocking. Instead of setting aside time blocks for each area, day theming dedicates a full day each week to each area.
And there is another recurrent piece of advice that I resit to implement: avoid scrolling and check email only three times per day.
Social media and streaming create clutter in our minds. All this stimulus act like insects buzzing around in your head. And when your mind is buzzing with bite-sized bits of information, you lose touch with your own deeper wisdom, clarity, motivation and drive.
